Installing and configuring VSAN
The process of creating a VSAN cluster is similar to the creation of vSphere HA or DRS clusters. In the previous versions of vSphere, when a cluster object was created in the vCenter inventory, the administrators had the option of vSphere HA or DRS under the Manage tab; an option to create a VSAN cluster is located under the same tab.
A VSAN network needs to be added to the host in order to use it. To add a VSAN network, perform the following steps:
- Select the host and click on the Add Networking icon.
- In the Add Networking wizard, select VMkernel network adapter and click Next.
- Browse and select the port group. You might create an appropriate port group in advance.
- Select Virtual SAN traffic as the service to be enabled and Click Next.
- Provide the IP information and click Finish to add the VSAN network.
