Setting up Studio One to record audio

We will start our recording session with a blank Song. On Studio One’s Start page, click the large plus sign titled New…. This will open the New Document window. Select the Record and Mix template and adjust the settings for your new Song, as we discussed in Chapter 4, Creating a New Song. Click OK.

Now, let’s create your first Audio Track and make the final adjustments before you hit the Record button.

Creating an Audio Track

The first thing you need to do inside the new Song is to create the Audio Tracks that you will be recording on. Each physical source you connected to your audio device in the previous section must go on a separate track – that way, you will be able to process each element in your music separately. So if, for example, you record a singer, an electric guitar, and an electric piano simultaneously, you will need to create three separate Audio Tracks.
