Choosing the correct mentor
Finding a mentor is challenging, but choosing the correct mentor is more challenging. A successful mentor will understand your goals, be someone you respect and look up to, understand your current situation and abilities, and see potential in you. We will separate this section into two parts: the criteria for choosing a mentor and asking someone to be your mentor.
Questions to ask when looking for a mentor
Let's take a visual look at the criteria I have found to be the basis for finding a good mentor:
Is the individual an enabler of my short- and long-term goals? As we approach finding the answer to this question, we uncover another question directing the focus on your goals, what are my long- and short-term goals? If you do not have this documented somewhere, don't worry, we will cover it now.
