Exploring People in the 90-day plan
Traditionally, CISOs have not been renowned for their people skills. They are technology experts who understand complex architecture and cyber controls. Today’s CISO is expected to be able to work well with the board, executive stakeholders, vendor partners, and staff, both in technology and business.
A new CISO is required to be strong in the People dimension. The role is no longer a back-office one but a strategic position that interfaces with external customers and regulators. There is also natural tension that CISOs and CIOs will face. Expecting this scenario, it’s imperative for the 90-day plan to address it.
This section will also explore common-sense approaches to stakeholder management and how to anticipate how each party may react and respond to different scenarios. While this is not an exact science, homework will help you to navigate it more mindfully.
