EBS architecture


The Oracle EBS is the most comprehensive suite ever produced for enterprise global business applications. Oracle EBS contains hundreds of applications with dozens of individual financial, manufacturing, and customer sales (CRM) modules and products. Some of the product modules are Oracle Financials, Oracle Projects and Grants, CRM, and Oracle Human Resources (HR) Payroll and Benefits Compensation. Oracle EBS uses an "n-tier" based client server web-enabled architecture.

The architecture for Oracle EBS includes the following:

  • Client tier: The client tier consists of Internet web browsers for accessing the Oracle R12 EBS web-based interface. As of the latest version, Oracle EBS supports web browsers including Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Mozilla Firefox 3.5, and Safari 3. Jinitiator was de-supported at the end of July 2009. For Oracle R12 EBS, you must now use the native Sun J2SE 1.5 (5.0) and 1.6 (6.0) with the native Sun Java plugin.
