Summary
And that is the end of this chapter. We looked at omnipresent out-of-the-box export and import tools, their best use, and their limitations. We then continued to look at the Vlocity Build tool: the powerful workhorse of OmniStudio configuration management. We also touched on Salesforce’s own SFDX CLI tool, which we frequently need to use together with the Vlocity Build tool, and then concluded our journey with a couple of helpful utilities.
You now have the tools to export and deploy your OmniStudio metadata components. Before making changes, you can now commit your code to a source control of your choice so that it will be easy to see exactly what has changed and who has changed it. You will then be able to undo any changes quickly.
In the next chapter, we will begin our quest for maximizing the performance of our OmniStudio applications by looking at async execution options—the first and the easiest for trying configuration changes.
