Summary

Activities are very important in the Moodle framework because they allow learners to demonstrate competency, as well as staying engaged and motivated. They also allow course designers to connect learning outcomes to the overall competency frameworks that may be required by governing bodies.

In Moodle 4.0, the activities have been streamlined so that there are not as many, but many have increased their functionality to be even more collaborative and interactive to keep learners engaged and motivated. Moodle 4.0 has made it easier for learners to see where they are in a course by making enhancements to the Assignment activity, as well as others, to indicate whether an activity has been completed, and whether or not the minimum passing score has been achieved.
