What is a PIM?
In Chapter 1, Introducing Pimcore, we briefly introduced the concept of Product Information Management (PIM). In this section, we will better explain this concept, which we will put into practice throughout the following sections of this chapter.
The concept of PIM encompasses a set of technologies and procedures that allow centralized management of product data and their distribution across different channels. In many common scenarios, information relating to products may come from multiple sources, potentially with different data structures, both due to different needs dictated by their distribution channels and through the provision of different technologies in distinct areas within the same company.
The use of a PIM allows you to integrate information from different sources into a single platform and organize it all coherently, with the possibility of redistributing this information in different ways to e-commerce platforms, websites, paper catalogs, and so...
