Setting up an analytic environment
An analytic environment conceptually refers to a technological environment in which analytics takes place. This can be as simple as a designated directory on a hard drive for storing files associated with analyzing a small survey dataset. In SAS data warehousing, the analytic environment encompasses the parts of the data warehouse in which analytics take place. While this is not a very specific definition, it can be better understood when thinking of permissions associated with user groups. Analysts and developers who build and maintain the SAS warehouse need access to the parts of the analytic environment they must use in order to perform their functions. Users who are outside the analytic environment could be considered end users of the SAS data warehouse. These include readers of reports from the SAS data warehouse or users of a web dashboard placed on data from a SAS data warehouse.
