Creating and Applying Brushes
Brushes are an integral part of day-to-day editing in Photoshop. Whether it’s one of the handful of brush tools themselves, the clone stamp, or healing brush tools, brush tip and style have a profound impact on the results you achieve.
Photoshop ships with an extensive library of brush tips ranging from the default soft and hard round brush tips for general-purpose mark-making to leaf and grass brushes, which are applied randomly to achieve a natural look. With a little adaptation, these brush tips will serve you well. As such, you could be forgiven for just sticking with this default set of brush libraries; however, you can also download and create your own.
The process of creating custom brush tips is relatively quick and simple. As we get started in this chapter, you will first create a flock of birds from custom brush tips from a black and white image. This will allow you to add a focal point to a photo and bring the image to life.
