Summary

We learned a lot in this chapter about content creation and publishing in Liferay Portal. Specifically, we covered:

  • Using the image gallery portlet to upload and manage image files

  • Creating regular content and content based on a template using the web content portlet

  • Configuring the web content display portlet to show web content on a portal page

  • Uploading and managing all kinds of files through the document library portlet

  • Integrating files uploaded through the document library portlet with the web content display portlet

  • Monitoring online content through the asset publisher portlet

  • Converting web content into a PDF file using OpenOffice service

We also discussed content versioning, adding comments to content, and rating content.

Now that we have learned about content creation and publishing with pre-installed portlets, we are ready to populate portal pages with custom portlets, which is the topic of the next chapter.
