Challenging your career

It is easy to follow the known path or get stuck in repetitive test automation. It takes courage to try new things and to get out of your comfort zone, especially when so many things are constantly being created. By the time I wrote this book, at least 10 other people in my network had published theirs.

Later in this section, we will talk about hot topics. I have found people that are after the latest hot topic in the industry because they just want to create something big or want to get their names out there, look for a promotion, or make money. They basically start with the solution or technology and try to find problems that justify them working on it. I don’t believe this is the correct approach to get any of that. Instead of focusing on the results and benefits you will get from doing that, try to think about the journey, the learnings, and how the results will help you and others.
