Sharing your project with other applications using XML
While FCPX is a one-stop shop for just about every aspect of post-production (editing, audio sweetening, basic motion graphics, color correction, compressing, and so on), there are situations where you'll want to be able to share a work-in-progress with another application. Enter Extensible Markup Language (XML), also known as a rosetta stone format, that allows cross-platform interoperability.
A common use for this with FCPX is exporting a project to DaVinci Resolve, a high-end color grading application. While FCPX has some great color correction tools, they have their limits, whereas Resolve is an application that lives and breathes nothing but color grading and correction. Let's see how to create an XML project file in FCPX and then share it with another program, in this case Resolve.
