Creating the platform roadmap
Now that we have our MVP defined and a list of functionalities and capabilities that are not prioritized for the MVP but needed in the later releases, we can proceed to the next phase, which is creating the roadmap.
Defining milestones
To create the roadmap or organize our capabilities and experiences against a target, we should define a few milestones and approximate timelines. Usually, the MVP launch is the first milestone. Some businesses also do a beta launch, followed by a general availability release. The goal of milestones is to have some achievable targets that can be met quickly to test the waters and get some early feedback.
Apart from the MVP and the beta release, some other examples of milestones could be achieving X number of users or hitting Y number in revenue, or launching the product in multiple geographies, and so on.
