The image gallery is a feature that shows a list of images with thumbnails in a grid-based design. Once the thumbnail is clicked, the original image will be shown in a larger pop-up window. The image galleries are essential in websites that showcase products. Image galleries increase the amount of interaction between the site and the users as users often click on thumbnails to view the larger images.
The Gutenberg editor provides a built-in image gallery block. We used the image gallery block in Chapter 4, Publishing Site Content with the Gutenberg Editor. However, this gallery only shows the images in a grid-based design. Advanced image gallery features such as pop-up windows and navigation between images are not available in the built-in block.
