Using extensions

As a general rule, using a well-designed extension should be like using SketchUp itself. Extension developers are presented with tools to make the UI and workflow as close to SketchUp as possible. There are a handful of extensions that I use that I have completely forgotten are not core functionality because they are so well designed!

In this section, we will run through a few examples of how you might use extensions through the SketchUp UI. For each of these examples, I will mention a specific extension by name and share the Extension Warehouse link. You do not need to download and install these extensions, but the information is available to you if you want them.

Let’s start by discussing where you can find your extension once you have installed it. Extensions developers have some flexibility with the placement of their extension UI. There are four main locations where extensions may appear once you have them successfully installed.
