Implementing successful change with ProSci ADKAR
Some activities support organizational change and technology adoption that just make sense – training people, making sure business requirements are met by technical solutions, and communicating to our user base. However, even though they are common sense, the best practices are not always followed, nor are the activities owned by someone who is empowered to see them through. The role of the change manager should be seen as a discipline unto itself.
It is informed by industry standards and extensive research, and there are multiple methodologies and tools available to make change successful.
There are many change management models and frameworks to choose from. The Association of Change Management Professionals provides a CCMP certification. The Kübler-Ross model, most commonly associated with human grief, has been applied to how employees react to change, which can help with resistance management.
