Mastery learning


Many organizations require the learners to show that they have achieved mastery, which means they have achieved the minimum passing score (usually 80 percent) in knowledge and skills associated with the course outcomes. This is particularly important in the case of training and regulatory compliance.

Moodle allows you to develop a question bank that is specific to the statutes, standards, or codes for regulatory compliance. The following steps are important to follow when tying to mastery learning:

  1. Clearly state the grade or score that must be earned
  2. Allow students to repeat the questions or the quiz until the qualifying score or grade is earned
  3. Incorporate the regulations as a link, file, or embedded player
  4. Provide explanations for incorrect answers and point them to the passages that provide the correct responses
  5. Categorize and classify the questions according to the nomenclature used in the codes
