Bridgework – Making Movable Scenery
Let's do some hands-on object creation. Do you remember our concept for our mini-game level layout from Chapter 5, On the Level: Making Modular Scenery?
When we did this, we just put in a placeholder for Area F, but let's start to make that a little more real. We'll create some geometry and then animate it in the next chapter.
Here is the high-level concept: the area is an abyss that you have to activate a bridge to cross. The bridge will be composed of six sections, kind of like planks, but we'll use (loooong) prisms because they're cooler and more sci-fi.
Three prisms will form the left side of the bridge and the other three the right. The prisms will start in the center of the abyss, facing vertically. The idea is that when you activate the bridge, they will extend upward and then fold over to create both sides of the bridge and allow...
