Laying Out the Level
Armed with the modular pieces we've created so far and your new knowledge of snapping and grids, it's time to lay everything out according to the rough plan we made back in Chapter 5, On the Level: Making Modular Scenery. Do you remember that? Here it is again, and the areas are labeled for easy reference:
In actually laying this out and seeing how it looks relative to the size of the human reference model, I generally increased the amount of floorspace for each area. Also, I am placing doorframes, but not yet placing doors.
Remember, this is all modular. You do not need to follow my design exactly. You may want to make something simpler or more complex. I would suggest, however, that you create some kind of linear flow for the rooms and corridors such that the player winds up in a final area, such as Area G in the preceding layout.
