Summary
What a difference one chapter makes. Now our game seems alive.
We covered a ton in this chapter. First, we got our marine down from Mixamo and into Unity. Then we got him/her all nice and shiny by creating and applying a material.
We extracted the animations from the .fbx
files and set up an AnimationController with different states and transitions. We also learned how to add events to an animation to create footstep sounds.
Next, we got the marine moving with the keyboard and we enlisted the help of Cinemachine to have a camera follow right along. Last, but by no means least, we got the doors and bridge working when the marine is in the proximity.
Oh, yeah, and we added creepy lights in there somewhere. That's quite a list.
We have one more chapter to go and it's all about adding pizzazz and game mechanics. We'll finally bring back the turret and let the shooting begin! Pew pew pew!
