Using Rolling Shutter Repair for DSLRs


A rolling shutter defect is a problem produced by devices that capture footage progressively scanning the frame from top to bottom. DSLRs and mobile phones that use this method of capture can show a poor image in which vertical lines appear against an oversaturated background. In this example, blinds at a window, the vertical lines distort as the camera moves from the left-hand side to the right-hand side, moving ahead of the progressively scanning method. In this task, you will use the new filter in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, the Rolling Shutter Repair, to help alleviate that problem.

Engage Thrusters

Correct a common DSLR camera problem by following these steps:

  1. Select the Project panel, and import the file IMG_2081.mov from the Video folder on your designated video drive.

  2. Create a new sequence. Don't worry about the settings, but rename it Rolling Shutter Correction.

  3. Drag-and-drop the IMG_2081.mov file from the Project panel onto Video 1 and allow Premiere...
