Creating the application object
The application is the container for the objects you create and the topmost structural element in Appian. Let's see the steps to create an application object:
- Navigate to Appian Designer and click the NEW APPLICATION button.

- For the dialog that has now opened, please observe the following screenshot, where you can freely select the entries for the Name, Prefix, and Description fields.
Prefix
The Prefix is part of the naming convention in Appian, used to show that an object belongs to a certain application. Typically, this uses three uppercase letters. Follow this to avoid object naming confusion, as there is no package structure concept in Appian.
