Using social media

Trisha Gee: I publish frequently to Twitter. I don't really read Twitter. I don't know if that makes me a bad person! I just don't have time. If I've woken up at 3:00 a.m. because the baby wants to feed, then I'll read Twitter. Reading Twitter at that time is a mistake because you don't sleep properly if you do that. I'm responsive on Twitter if people ask me questions. Support requests come through Twitter quite often.

I use Facebook and I have a bunch of developer advocate friends on there, but Facebook is very much a case of keeping in touch with family, more than anything work-related.

The good thing about doing a monthly newsletter is I quite often have to seek out news, and figure out what's going on and what's interesting. I use InfoQ for that and DZone. DZone updated its emailing recently, probably due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), so I don't get those emails anymore.
