Summary

This brings us to the end of digital transformation. We saw how we need to evaluate our application portfolio for transformation opportunities. We saw the reasons why monolithic applications are becoming a hindrance to achieving our business goals.

Once a transformation opportunity is identified, we can take an existing monolithic application and move to a distributed application model. We saw various steps that need to be taken across people, process, and technology levels.

This also brings an end to the overall journey for building cloud-native applications in Java. We saw the various tools/technologies to build new age microservice-based applications, how to build them, how to take these applications to production, how to monitor them, and how we adopt these applications for cloud providers such as AWS and Azure. We also saw some of the best practices in building API-based platforms, and how to take an existing monolithic application and transform it into a distributed microservice...

Ravi Kumar Gupta is an author, reviewer, and open source software evangelist. He pursued an MS degree in software system at BITS Pilani and a B.Tech at LNMIIT, Jaipur.
