Introduction

XenDesktop 7.6 is to be considered as a suite made up of many different features, some of them acting as additional features to the core architectural software. In this chapter, we are going to discuss the important components that have the purpose to improve the quality, the performance, and the manageability of your Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) architecture: XenMobile platform (the Citrix software used to implement an application and mobile device management infrastructure), the CloudBridge Virtual Appliance (the Citrix infrastructure optimization platform for WAN connections and branch offices), and the NetScaler Gateway, the secure platform used to regulate and secure access to the Citrix applications and desktops.

Always remember that these components are additional software, with their own licensing programs, not included by default in the XenDesktop suite.
