With people working from home and leaving their traditional on-premises jobs in great numbers at the same time, the demand for cloud technology spiked lots of lapses in security that led to major issues. Different software publishers have different ideas about what security should look like, how much testing needs to be done, and what standards they should be beholden to. That will not work when you are trying to have everyone work together in one cloud environment that a company uses for all of its business.
Therefore, the future of the cloud must be a trusted third-party review entity to look over all public APIs, as well as any third-party code that is going to be deployed into the cloud environment.
