Overriding the cluster automation level for a VM
In the previous recipe we learned how to set the cluster-wide automation levels.
In this section, we will learn how to set an automation level that is different from the DRS cluster automation level on a per VM basis. The cluster settings are overridden by creating VM Overrides.
How to do it…
The following procedure will help you configure a VM to override the cluster automation level:
From the vCenter's inventory home navigate to the Hosts and Clusters view.
Select the cluster and navigate to Manage | Settings | VM Overrides.
On the VM Overrides page, click on the Add… button to bring-up the Add VM Overrides window.
In the Add VM Overrides window, click on the green + icon to bring-up the Select a VM window.
In the Select a VM window, select the virtual machine whose settings need to be overridden and click on OK. This should take you back to the Add VM Overrides window.
