CISO – The First 90 Days
I referenced in the previous chapter the backstory of how I prepared a plan for the first 90 days as groundwork for one of my CIO roles. This template has been reused several times in my career. As I approached my first CISO role, my plan was to logically reuse this “tried and tested” approach. Although, I also planned to make some tweaks, given that the expectations of each role have some subtle differences. I realized, however, that simple tweaks would not be sufficient.
A new CISO role comes with much anticipation. The role of the CISO is critical for the success of an organization and simply can’t be vacant. In my case, as I entered the building, the previous incumbent was performing two roles, as CISO for the Asia Pacific region and global chief security architect.
