Introduction
This chapter will cover dashboarding and stories in Tableau. Dashboards are collections of charts that can be made to interact with each other to facilitate more advanced analysis. A dashboard is the most common way to share analysis with end users. Dashboard creation and the available objects that can be included in dashboards will be discussed first. Making dashboards interactive will be covered second. Some general tips for best practices when designing dashboards will also be discussed. Finally, how to combine dashboards into Tableau’s stories will be looked at.
There are three types of tabs along the bottom of Tableau’s interface – Sheets, Dashboards, and Stories. Sheets are where individual charts are created, dashboards allow for the collection of multiple sheets in a single view, and stories provide functionality for sequences of dashboards and/or sheets to be created.
