Slack can become a notification-heavy place. Members are constantly communicating with one another in channels, threads, and direct messages, where notifications can stack up over time – even when you only remove yourself from the workspace for a quick lunch break.
Since nobody wants unread messages to pile up, it's important to message others the way you'd like to be messaged when using Slack. This is what we consider proper "Slack etiquette," something that helps us avoid easily distracting and annoying our teammates throughout the workday and even in off hours.
