Conventions used
There are a number of text conventions used throughout this book.
Code in text
: Indicates code words in text, database table names, folder names, filenames, file extensions, pathnames, dummy URLs, user input, and Twitter handles. Here is an example: “Let’s install another module called mplfinance
.’’
A block of code is set as follows:
stocks = Allocation("SPY", 0.6) bonds = Allocation("TLT", 0.4) myPortfolio = Portfolio("Growth", 4) myPortfolio.allocations.append(stocks) myPortfolio.allocations.append(bonds) df = myPortfolio.getDailyPrices("20y")
When we wish to draw your attention to a particular part of a code block, the relevant lines or items are set in bold:
for index, value in sectorLabels.iteritems(): sectorLabels[index]=(value.capitalize().replace("_"," ")) plt.pie(sectorWeights, labels = sectorLabels) plt.show()
Bold: Indicates a new term, an important word, or words that you see onscreen. For instance, words in menus or dialog boxes appear in bold. Here is an example: “In fact, Colab will then automatically create a Colab Notebooks folder under My Drive, which will store all your Colab files going forward.”
