The Liquify persona
While I am giving the Liquify persona its own section, it will be a short one that will explain the history of the persona. The Liquify persona is a holdover from the older versions of Affinity, before the invention of the live filter layer for Liquify (see Chapter 11 in this book to see how to use the live filter layer for Liquify).
In the days before this live filter, you would have to take an image from the Photo persona and move it into the Liquify persona, make your adjustments, and then commit them permanently to the image. After the live filter was introduced, there is no longer a reason for this persona to be used. However, for completeness, I have created a side-by-side screenshot of the Liquify persona (on the left) and the Liquify Live Adjustment Filter (on the right) to prove their equivalency:
