Time for action – adding and using the Messages block
Remember to make sure that editing is turned on. Click Add... in the Blocks block. Select Messages from the list. The Messages block is now added to your course front page:
I've got a message from Jill Brown. Clicking on the envelope displays the message dialog, where I can view her message and respond to it if I want to (clicking on her name only displays Jill's profile).
If I want to send a message then click on Messages... The messages screen is displayed listing my incoming messages. Click on the name of the sender to view the message:
What just happened?
We've just added the Messages block to the course front page to make messaging between participants much easier. Students may not want to post to a forum or join in a chat room, but now we are converting our courses to Moodle, we want communication between learners to be as straightforward as possible.
