Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS), a role in Windows Server 2016, gives you the ability to provide your users with authentication to external applications or services using their own local identities, managed by your AD DS. Another role that will be covered in this chapter is Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS), which helps you to protect your data in a different way to using BitLocker or an Encrypting File System (EFS), or by configuring NTFS permissions of files and folders.
