This chapter has touched on many considerations for selecting an appropriate MCU and we've explained the selection process by going through the trade-offs made when selecting the dev board used in this book. You should now understand the importance of MCU selection and have enough background to begin researching and selecting MCUs for your projects. If you're part of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll be better positioned to converse with your peers on the trade-offs of using various MCUs for a given application.
In the next chapter, we'll go through a similar exercise, comparing various classes of Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) and choose a suitable IDE to code the exercises you'll find in this book, starting with Chapter 7, The FreeRTOS Scheduler.
