Annotating 2D documents and creating attributes
As explained throughout Chapter 7, Archicad has a good set of tools for adding text, labels, and dimensions to a drawing. These tools can use the geometric and non-geometric (meta)data from model elements and display this information in any 2D view. In a design process, we often also need additional Annotation that is not necessarily linked to a model. For example, in an early design stage, we may not have added all the data into the model already, and thus, we cannot use a linked Label to show data (as demonstrated in Chapter 7, in the Exploring labels section). In such a case, we still need ample 2D graphical elements such as lines and fills to express our ideas. Furthermore, there are also many cases in which using a line or a fill is necessary to express something graphically, mark an area, or just make a quick 2D sketch before modeling a new idea in 3D.
