Setting up the Database

I will create a new SourceSafe database for the Orbital Hotel solution created in the previous chapter. The database named OrbitalHotel is created on a network server named alexs using the following physical path on the server: C:\SourceSafe\OrbitalHotel.

I will not cover the SourceSafe installation and the database creation steps here. For detailed information about installing, creating the initial configuration of a SourceSafe database, and enabling internet access please consult Appendix B and Appendix C.

I will choose C:\SourceSafe\OrbitalHotel as the shared network folder so the LAN Universal Naming Convention (UNC) network path to this database is \\alexs\OrbitalHotel\.

I will also enable remote internet access for this database using HTTP with SSL (HTTPS). The server's internet domain name is vss.alexandruserban.com so the URL path to the SourceSafe web service will be https://vss.alexandruserban.com/SourceSafe/VssService.asmx.
