The Configuration Manager client

Before we can start to properly troubleshoot the Configuration Manager client, it is important to understand what the client actually is and does. At the end of the day, we can use all of the tools listed in Chapter 1, The Configuration Manager Troubleshooting Toolkit, but if we do not fundamentally understand how the software is supposed to work, then we are almost working blindfolded. As with anything, a little knowledge can often go a long way. The Configuration Manager client can be installed on multiple operating systems, which include Windows, Apple Macintosh OSX, and Linux-based operating systems, and each has their own installation media. Proportionate to most implementations, we will concentrate primarily on the Windows client but also take a brief look at the OSX and Linux client.
