Summary

In this chapter, we took an in-depth look at Studio One’s several methods for recording and inputting MIDI data for use with virtual instruments. We covered a variety of music production scenarios and discussed which method would be the best choice for a given workflow, including recording notes live, painting them with a mouse, or programming them with a sequencer.

So far, we focused on creating and pouring our musical ideas into our projects. In the next part of this book, we will talk about how to rework and improve those ideas by using Studio One’s excellent editing tools. We will start by taking an in-depth look at the global editing tools in the next chapter and lay the groundwork for the editing best practices that we will be using throughout this book.
