Adding ergonomic features
Ergonomics typically describes the study of people’s efficiency in a working environment, but in the world of design, we often consider ergonomics to be features that make a product easier or more efficient for humans to use. If you’ve ever held a coffee mug with a rubberized sleeve, carried a bag with a padded handle, or used a tool that was knurled for better grip, you’ve experienced ergonomic designs before. Let’s now apply these concepts in our design to improve the functionality of our jar, just like the professionals, through the following steps.
Improving the jar part
Starting with the jar, let’s add a raised pattern to make this part easier to hold onto:
- First, select the Half Sphere shape and bring it into your design. We can scale this shape down so it fits onto the side of our jar, and use the Cruise tool to position the shape so the rounded part is facing outwards off one side of the jar, as shown...
