Chapter 7: Scrum of Scrums
Very often, Scrum finds its way into an organization at the project level as a single team experiment. Such experiments occur when the potential benefits are so high that the organization is willing to assume the risk of adopting a new software development methodology. However, the originators of Scrum, Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, always intended that Scrum could scale across an enterprise.
This chapter discusses the original concepts of scaling Scrum as defined by its founders, including the concepts of the SoS. In this chapter, you will learn three approaches to scaling Scrum across an organization. These three approaches include the following:
