Facilitating understanding through high-level processes and data modeling
During the discovery phase, you will run interactive sessions with an organization’s stakeholders and subject-matter experts, review any existing documentation, and ask questions that will lead to an understanding of the current business processes and data structure that supports the organization’s operations.
Detailed requirement capture and analysis are discussed in the upcoming chapters of this book. In the early stages of the project, you will look to understand the high-level business processes and data models so that you can build a frame of reference for how an organization currently operates. The output from this discovery exercise will be used as the context and structure for the upcoming requirement-engineering exercises in the chapters that follow.
