Healthy Longevity Globally
Turning to diseases of aging, how can we utilize global data sharing to fast-track research and achieve healthy longevity all over the world? The Global Future Council (GFC) on Human Enhancement and Longevity considers global data sharing as 1 of 4 critical workstreams. One model of best practice exists already[75]: the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI)[76] project, which has strict rules designed to encourage sharing of collected data among its members including both public and private research institutions. To address GDPR challenges new approaches to consent management[77] or dynamic consent[78] are being trialed in the UK and EU and by global organizations including Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH).
Recently, the US National Academy for Medicine (NAM) announced the Global Roadmap for Healthy Longevity Grand Challenge[79], backed with $35 million in funding. It is an international, independent, and multidisciplinary...
