Customizing the client installation package


Sametime provides the ability for you as an administrator to customize the Sametime client installation package specifically for your environment. This allows you to modify features so that they meet your organization's security or login requirements, include extra features such as Microsoft Office integration, or include a custom plugin. You might also have a requirement for adding additional dictionaries or including the Sametime Embedded client in your Lotus Notes installation. All of these options are available to you to build a custom deployment. To customize the installation packages, the following three files are involved:

  • plugin_customization.ini

  • install.xml

  • install.addon.xml

You will find these files in the directories specific to the type of install package you are planning.

The plugin_customization.ini file can be modified to include features (plugins) and change preferences for those features. This file is read when the client software...
