The Windows High Available Fileserver (commonly called Scale-Out Fileserver), Storage Spaces, and of course SMB3 are three great new technologies that are really promising and work great with Hyper-V. I personally think that the legacy of classic SAN storage systems is over because Software Defined Storage solutions are much more flexible and not nearly as expensive as SAN solutions.
