OKD leverages on the Kubernetes technology, and extends it by providing security and networking features. You may find Origin wording in OKD in online documentation and on GitHub. An OKD release corresponds to the Kubernetes distribution—for example, OKD 1.10 includes Kubernetes 1.10.
OKD is built around a core of Docker container packaging and Kubernetes container cluster management. All the preceding statements describing OpenShift apply to OKD; as a matter of fact, OpenShift is built on top of OKD.
