Reviewing Azure Stack Hub compute scenarios
During deployment, the infrastructure virtual machines are registered to the compute controller or compute resource provider (CRP). These infrastructure virtual machines are created as Gen2 services with dynamic memory, while tenant virtual machines are created as Gen1 services. One particular infrastructure virtual machine in the portal is an infrastructure role instance. These virtual machines can be started, restarted, or shut down via the Azure Stack Hub portal. CRP uses placement rules to prevent all the infrastructure virtual machines of the same type from running on the same host.
