Long-term goals
A product’s mission defines the purpose or overall goal of the product in the long term. It should make it clear what makes the product special, what problem it’s trying to solve, and who it’s meant for. A mission statement should be short and to the point, and it should be used to guide decision-making and ensure that all actions align with the product’s overall purpose.
A product’s vision, on the other hand, defines the desired future state of the product. It should be an ambitious goal that shows what the product’s long-term goals are and what effect it wants to have on its audience. A vision statement should be inspirational and should be used to guide the overall strategy and direction of the product.
In summary, the mission statement answers the question, “What do we do?” and the vision statement answers “What do we want to achieve?”.
