VMware has deprecated their Advanced Data Protection (ADP) application, which provided backup and restore capabilities in a virtual environment, in favor of letting the partner community develop their own solutions. One popular option for VM backups is Veeam Backup and Replication (Veeam B&R). Veeam B&R is an easy-to-deploy Windows application that provides backup and recovery of virtual machines. Veeam B&R is installed on a Windows server and uses VMware vSphere Storage APIs-Data Protection (VADP) API calls to backup and restore virtual machines. Veeam B&R provides the following capabilities:
